DMCA Takedown & Copyright Policy

Last updated June 28, 2026

Yerba hosts no media of its own: a page is a chat, and a creator's links point to their own destinations. Still, we act on valid copyright notices for anything that appears on a Yerba page. Here is how we handle intellectual property, how to file a takedown notice, how to counter-notify, and who to contact.

What does a Yerba page host?

Yerba does not host media. A Yerba page is a chat, and a creator's links point to that creator's own destinations, which are operated and hosted elsewhere by the creator and the platforms they connect to. Photos, videos, and other content live on those destinations, under their rules and their copyright processes, not ours. That said, the text, images, and material that actually appear on a Yerba page, such as a profile, a bio, or anything a creator uploads to their page, are within our reach, and we act on valid notices for that material. If your copyright concern is about content on a third-party destination, the fastest path is usually that platform's own copyright process, but you are still welcome to tell us.

Does Yerba respect copyright and intellectual property?

We respect the intellectual property rights of others and we expect everyone who uses Yerba to do the same. Creators may only use Yerba to present work they own or are authorized to share, in line with our Terms of Service, and they are responsible for the material on their page and at the destinations they link to. When we receive a valid notice that material on a Yerba page infringes someone's copyright, we respond in line with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and applicable law, and we maintain a policy of removing infringing material and, in appropriate cases, terminating accounts.

How do I file a DMCA takedown notice?

If you own a copyright (or are authorized to act for the owner) and you believe material on a Yerba page infringes it, send a written notice to our designated DMCA agent below. To be valid under the DMCA, your notice must include all of the following:

  • Identification of the work. A clear description of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed (or a representative list, if there are several).
  • The material and where it is. Identification of the material you are asking us to remove and enough information for us to find it, such as the page handle (the yerba.chat/username address) and a description of where on the page it appears.
  • Your contact information. Your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address so we can reach you.
  • A good-faith statement. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement under penalty of perjury. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
  • Your signature. Your physical or electronic signature.

Send the notice to our designated DMCA agent below. Please note that filing a knowingly false notice can carry legal liability, so only report material you genuinely believe is infringing.

How do I file a DMCA counter-notification?

If material of yours was removed from a Yerba page and you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send us a counter-notification. To be valid, it must include:

  • Your contact information. Your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
  • The material that was removed. Identification of the material that was removed and the location where it appeared before it was taken down.
  • Statement under penalty of perjury. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  • Consent to jurisdiction.A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district where Yerba's address is located, and that you will accept service of process from the party who filed the original notice.
  • Your signature. Your physical or electronic signature.

Send your counter-notification to support@yerba.chat. If we receive a valid one, we may restore the material in line with the timelines the DMCA sets out, unless the original complainant takes legal action.

What is Yerba's repeat-infringer policy?

We terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of creators who are repeat infringers. A pattern of valid copyright complaints against a page can lead to suspension or permanent closure of the account, and serious or willful infringement can result in removal after a single notice. We apply this policy at our discretion and consistently with applicable law.

Who is Yerba's designated DMCA agent?

Send copyright notices and counter-notifications to support@yerba.chat, and put "DMCA" in the subject line so we can route it quickly. We review copyright notices promptly and aim to respond within a few business days. When we receive a valid takedown notice, we remove or disable the reported material and let the affected creator know. If they file a valid counter-notification, we may restore it in line with the DMCA's timelines unless the original complainant takes legal action. For details on how we handle the contact information you provide in a notice, see our Privacy Policy.

How do I report impersonation or non-consensual content?

Copyright is not the only reason to ask us to remove something. If someone is impersonating you, or if intimate content of you was shared without your consent, that is handled through our Trust & Safety process, which treats these reports as urgent and does not require you to hold a copyright. If you are not sure which path fits your situation, send the details to our designated DMCA agent above and we will route it for you.
